Winemaker, Hamish MacGowan, chose the right region, with Heathcote more than capable of”¦ delivering depth of flavour with good, solid structure. The colour is deep and intense purple – very Heathcote – and alive in aromas of black plum, dark cherry, blackberry, earth, toasted spices. Palate is juicy and supple with nicely honed tannins in place. A light layering of undergrowth adds that extra something. Hard to argue that this isn’t a wine well suited to a match with protein.
