Final blend of 42% Cabernet Sauvignon 41% Merlot and 17% Malbec. The Cabernet Sauvignon was planted in 1970 and again in the 2000. Excess Merlot was available post blending from the Yarra Yering wines and was used to build extra complexity. Recent plantings of Malbec at Warramate were undertaken because they love what Malbec brings to their Dry Red Wine No.1 blend; a whole lot of energy!
A succulent, bright jubey fruit layered palate with some cardamon spice complexity and very fine, soft tannins. A bright acid energy underscores a wine of fruit purity and finesse.
