This pillar of Tui, and literally the beer after which the brewery is named, has been winning gold since its debut at the Palmerston East A&P show in 1904. It’s not typical IPA; it’s more of a lager, but it’s still a tasty beer. It pours a clear dark amber color with an off-white head of average size. This amazing beer has sweet, caramel, berry, and boiled vegetable aromas. On the tongue Moderately sweet to sweet, sugary taste, malted caramel, some metallic flavors, and little bitterness to balance out the sweetness.
