Terroir is a notion that flavour is defined by a sense of place. Sheer Terroir

is an experiment with the goal to identify and highlight flavour variations that climate and soil can have on hops. We’ve split and dry-hopped the same base beer with single-lot Citra hops grown in three different prolific US hop regions.

Yakima Valley, Washington

Citra P91-HUCIT7042 | Tributary Hop Farms | Granger, WA Owned by the Smith family from BT Loftus ranches.

Washington’s Yakima Valley produces the largest share of hops grown in the US. Tropical, herbal, and stonefruit are characters to look for.

Willamette Valley, Oregon

Citra P91-HUCIT7192 | Coleman Agriculture Gervais, OR. Sixth generation hop grower.

Willamette Valley in central Oregon is sandwiched between the Cascade Mountains to the east and Oregon Coast Range to the west. Look for notes of grass, melon, and berries.

Treasure Valley, Idaho

Citra P91-HUCIT7065 | Jackson Hop Farms | Wilder, ID. Owned by first generation hop grower Nate Jackson.

Idaho’s primary growing region, Treasure Valley, lies between Boise and the southwest border to Oregon. Look for strong citrus and herbaceous characters.
