Baitz Creme de Cassis is made by soaking the berries in grape brandy. Blackcurrants are called cassis in French. The blackcurrant itself comes from the Nordic region. In sixteenth-century monks from the famous Dijon region of France have been growing blackcurrant bushes. They used it to make a drink that was said to cure all illness. Black currants are rich in vitamin C, and the liqueurs made from them are healthy and delicious.
